Indonesia Holidays and Engagement

Well no post came in February... Neiter in March, April, May, June or July but finally here's one again :-) The week in Morocco was great and really relaxing. Unfortunately the weather was pretty unusual and we had two rainy days and 4 rainy nights in only one week. As I was told, this hasn't happened during the last 5 or so years! With the rain, wind came along and messed up "my waves" a bit. Surfing therefore was pretty difficult.
After the time in the ocean, I always enjoyed to sit back and relax at Mohis house. Mohi, who I used to work with at a tennis school, offered me to stay at his house for free! Thank you so much!

His cousin Ahmed who is also staying there, from time to time, made my time a lot more comfortable. He cooked delicious Moroccan cuisine for me and did all the shopping. A big thanks to him as well! Unfortunately my time in Tamrakht was way too short and classes in Magglingen started too early, again.

After this short week of relaxation, another 3 months of intense studying were to come. It was pretty much the same rhythm every day: getting up, breakfast, clas
ses, lunch, classes, studying/learning, dinner, sleep... Luckily there were always a few chances to do sports, spend time with Maritta or see my family for dinner on wknds - but these moments were rare...

Just a few days ago, I received the results from the final exams, which I had taken during the last week of June. I'm soo happy that I passed them all and now know that all the hard work payed off.

Between taking the exams and receiving the results many things happend :-) Just two days after all exams were over, I took a flight to Bali/Indon
esia. There I spent one week at the www.surfcamp.at which was really great. We had great food, good waves and the sun was shining every day. The best part of this week were the three days that I got to spend with my brother Simon and two of his friends. By coincidence they were travelling Bali the same week as I was staying at the surfcamp. After the had left, I was eager for the week to pass because on my 8th day at Bali, Maritta who was at that time my girlfriend, would join me. I was so happy to go to the airport and pick her up. We spent the next week at the camp and enjoyed many hours at the pool, beach, surfing and driving around with a scooter (which is pretty crazy in the Kuta-area because of the heavy traffic).
Unfortunately I caught a fever and had to spend 2 days in bed, but after that was ready to surf, again :-) Time flew by and before we knew, we already had to check-out, again.

Maritta thought, that we'll travel further south to Uluwat
u, but instead I had booked a villa at a 5 star resort (www.thesamayabali.com). We were strolling around the beach, when I suddenly told here that I have a little surprise for her and that we'll enjoy a 2.5h massage at this beautiful resort. Here's a picture of us, after the massage. It was taken in the massage-room from which we had a terrific view on the ocean:

After the massage we went for a drink at the hotel bar. There I surprised Maritta, again, when I told her that we're going to have dinner at the Samaya, as well. The resteraunts hostess guided us to our table, which was set up on a small island in the middle of the hotel-pool. They
especially set this table up for us and our engagment, as they have told me they would do, when I made the hotel-reservation one week earlier.

By now, Maritta was about to know, what might be up next... After we had taken our seats and had a first look at the seven course menu card, our butler served us the appetizer. Before Maritta could take the first bite though, I got up and moved over to her side of the table. We were looking in eachothers eyes and I then told her, how much I love her and asked her if she want's to become my wife - which she (luckily for me) approved! After a few emotional minutes I went back to my seat and we startet our delicious dinner. We had such a great time talking about all the preparations I had made in order for this moment to turn out, as it did and also about how I went to ask Marittas dad if I may marry his daughter and everything else. This is definitively an evening that neither of us will ever forget.

Instead of more words, I'll just attach some pictures and let them speak...

After our engagement, we travelled for about 10 days and experienced the following places:
- Uluwatu/Bali
- Gili Trawangan/Lombok
- Kuta/Lombok
- Legian/Bali

and activities:
- surfing
- snorkeling
- long taxi drives
- even longer bargaining
- taking pictures
- sunbathing
- relaxing
- jogging
- dreaming at the beach
- speed-boat
- local ferry
- ....

To sum it up, our holidays were a blast! Now, we've been back and are enjoying our time here, as well. Daily life has caught us again and guess what, it's all good, too!

I hope, that this time I'll get to write the next post, sooner! Best wishes to you all, Maritta & Marc

The Start

So many people I know are travelling the world... Wish I would be one of them, as well. But hey, of course, I enjoy my life here at home, as well :-) Today I was at college again, and we had a terrific view over the vally (which was covered by a sea of fog - I'll try to put in a picture, but don't know if I'll succeed, since this is my first post). Far away we could even see the mountain tops covered in snow!
So this is pretty much my daily life: going to class and studying in the evening. After the exams are over (Jan. 30th) I'll enjoy one week of surfing in Marocco/Africa! I'm soo much looking forward to that! Hope I get to post some pics afterwards. Until then, this will be about it with blogging cuz I better spend my time behind the books than online ;-)
so until february...
